I wanted to share with you that my son just produced his first record. The group is The Corcoran Brothers.
Here is their press release:
When looking at the mass throng of indie musicians picking up their suspenders and mustache wax scrambling to join the folksy, Americana rat race, it’s important to note that The Corcoran Brothers are not at the front of the line – they’re running a completely different race. Avoiding tropes and gimmicks of old timey-ness, The Corcoran Brothers focus on creating modern, acoustically driven music that will outlive current trends and instead achieve timelessness.
The sibling duo grew up in a musical family, so it only makes sense that brothers Kevin and Brenan – a sophomore in college and a junior in high school, respectively – spent the majority of their youth teaching themselves how to play instruments. The New Jersey natives have been playing music for as long as they can remember, but only officially decided to record acoustically charged Americana pop-folk tracks under a moniker in December of last year.
Taking influence from the esteemed artists they grew up with like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, as well as newer acts like the Dave Matthews Band and Coldplay, The Corcoran Brothers fuse together complex musical arrangements, rich vocal harmonies, and vivid lyrics that artfully depict tender tales of love and youth. Their musical spectrum ranges wide: some tracks containing the quiet grace of classic songwriters, others housing an anthemic, sing-a-long rowdiness – but all maintain an incredible pop sensibility and honest, nostalgic lyrics.
The pair recorded and released their debut 4 song EP, “Pleasant Hill” on May 5th, 2014 and has already seen an impressive amount of success. The EP was crowd-sourced on Indiegogo and demonstrates the duo’s songwriting and performance abilities. The Corcoran Brothers’ debut full-length album is due out in August 2014.
